Hello, CAE members!
It’s Week 9 already! We hope you all had a lovely three day weekend, especially you lucky ducks who went to Fanime grrrrr. Can you almost taste the freedom of summer on the horizon? Have you bought your AX badge yet? (Prices go up June 1!)
Our officer cabinet for next year has been decided; most of our amazing officers are continuing in their roles from the previous year, but congratulations to the new members of our PR team and our new VP! We’re pleased to have everyone on board for another year of fun and anime.
Regular Thursday meetings will be happening as usual in PSLH 1000 at 7pm. We apologize for not warning you to bring your tissue boxes for the last episode of Fate/Zero last week, but wasn’t it great? This week we will bid adieu to Nichijou, so prepare yourselves for another excellent (and thankfully much less depressing) finale! Since Joshiraku also ended, we will be showing mystery one-episode specials in place of it for the rest of the quarter. What are they about? Come to the meeting and find out~
This week, we are bringing back Friday meetings for one night only, at 7pm in Student Center room Aliso Beach A. It’ll be a special Toonami-themed night, with tons of nostalgic surprises in store.
Finally, next Saturday (June 8) we will have our final club event: an end of the year bonfire. Join us for a last hurrah of the school year as we feast on fire-roasted food and hang out! RSVP on the Facebook events page and tell us if you can bring anything or need a ride on our Google Doc.
That’s all for now, hope to see you soon~ ?(*·?·)?

Hi CAE!
It’s Week 8; the end is getting closer! Hopefully you aren’t too busy taking those late “midterms” or prepping for finals yet.
We have our usual meeting on Thursday at 7pm in PSLH. This week both Joshiraku and Fate/Zero will be ending, so make sure to join us for the fun and feels as we say goodbye to these series. In the next couple of weeks we’ll be both doubling up on episodes and showing some OVAs and specials to fill any empty slots.
Elections will also be held on Thursday, so it’s even more important that you come to cast your vote. If you’re interested in running for any position, please contact an officer before the night of Wednesday 5/22 so we can formulate a ballot. You should also be prepared to give a short speech on Thursday about why you would like the position. Being an officer is a great way to get involved in club, learn new skills, make new friends, and have something to put on a resume or talk about at an interview, so please consider running!
In upcoming news, this Tuesday (5/21) from 6pm-10pm is our Spring Animixer! We’ll be filling Moss Cove AB in the Student Center with video and computer games, and selling snacks, pizza, and drinks. This will be the last Animixer of the year, so we’d love to see you there. Bring friends, bring games and consoles if you have them, and be ready to have fun!
During Week 9 we will bring back Friday meetings one last time for the quarter with a nostalgic Toonami night! We’ll watch old Toonami shows along with the original commercials and bumpers to add to the atmosphere.
Finally, we are working on getting a bonfire set up for the weekend of Week 9 or 10, so look out for details on that. Bonfires are a club tradition for closing out the quarter (and burning old homework!), and we hope to work out a date and place soon.
Hang in there with classes, and we hope to see you at one of our meetings!

It's Week 7, CAE! Can you believe it?!
As always, our usual Thursday meetings will be at 7pm in PSLH. We're getting down to the wire now as a few more shows will be ending next week, so prepare yourselves for an emotional onslaught. PR Officer John will also be presenting another retro-themed AMV Corner
Elections are happening soon, everyone! For those interested in helping our club by joining the illustrious ranks of the club cabinet (or even if you just want to sign on as a humble Power Ran--PR officer), please feel free to talk to any of our current officers or e-mail us. Available positions will include President (the one in charge!), Vice President (secures licensing and helps the President), Secretary (takes notes, writes emails, assists in planning), Treasurer (keeps track of funds and purchasing supplies), and PR Officers (do various tasks and errands to help club run smoothly, as well as outreach).
We will be having our Spring Animixer next Tuesday, May 21, in Moss Cove A & B at the Student Center from 6-10pm. Join us for an evening of socializing, snacks, and video games galore! If you can make the event even more enjoyable for everyone by lending games, consoles, TVs, etc, even better! Sign up here on the doc.
On Week 9 or 10 we will be bringing back Friday meeting for a special Toonami Night, where you can sit back and enjoy a nostalgia-tinted selection of shows and clips from the original Toonami segments!
Look forward to some final events such as our end of the year bonfire! We hope to see you soon!

Hi CAE!
We’ve reached Week 6, which means we’re more than halfway through classes for this quarter!
Thanks to everyone who came along for the Little Tokyo trip this past weekend; everyone had a lot of fun. Now you can look forward to next year, where this club tradition will continue!
This week begins straight off with a club event on Monday 5/5, hosted by CAE’s Katrina! Ever wondered how your favorite manga series went from Japanese raw to readable on your favorite online sites? Come to our scanlation workshop, where we'll be covering the basics of cleaning, redrawing, and typesetting. To our CMink friends: we'll be covering the art of placing text and using fonts that make your phrases pop! Please come with your laptop computer and either Photoshop or GIMP. The workshop will be 7-10pm in PCB 1300, so if you’re interested at all in scanlation, come check it out!
We have our usual club meeting this Thursday at 7pm in PSLH, with the next episode of our lineup. Since Shiki’s official run has ended, one of its OVAs will be shown this week during that slot. During intermission, we will also be talking about the upcoming CAE elections. Officers are extremely important when it comes to keeping the club running and fun for everyone, and it’s very rewarding to form bonds with your fellow officers, learn new leadership and organizational skills, and most of all have a hand in making CAE the best it can be. Come hear what it’s like to be an officer and see if you’d like to run for a position next year!
Our Spring Animixer is set to happen on Tuesday May 21st at 6:00pm; we’re working on securing a room right now, so details should be out any day. In the meantime, please post on this doc if you can provide a TV, console, or game for the event! The more we have, the more fun we can have! The doc can be found here.
Due to low attendance, we’ve decided to discontinue our Friday meetings for now. However, we’re putting together a special themed Friday meeting for later this quarter, possibly Week 9 or 10. It will be Toonami Night, with maximum nostalgia and real bumpers and cutscenes from the Cartoon Network segments. Look out for more information!
That’s it for this week; we hope you can make it to our workshop or meeting! See you there!

Hello, CAE members~
To those in the midst of their last round of midterms for the year, we wish you the best of luck! We'll be having the usual Thursday meeting at 7pm in PSLH, so drop by for the next episodes for our regular programming. Also, for those who are interested in joining the ranks of our club cabinet, elections are coming up soon. More details will be announced during the intermission.
As for our Friday meeting, we will be celebrating the fact that it is Golden Week in Japan! Golden Week is a period during which several different holidays happen to occur around the same time. Traditionally, a Detective Conan film is released during this week, so we will be showing the sixth film, The Phantom of Baker Street. As the title implies, there are heavy references to Sherlock Holmes (and also Jack the Ripper?!) so it's sure to be fun. This is also one of our last Friday meetings of the quarter! Be sure to swing by!
Our last Little Tokyo trip of the year will be this Saturday. Join us to eat, browse shops, and sing karaoke! Please sign up on the doc if you can provide or are in need of a ride ASAP. We will be meeting at the flagpoles at 10am.
We will also be having our AniMixer soon, and we need your help to make it as fun as possible! Please tell us in this doc if you have any games/consoles/TVs you'd be willing to bring.
Also, next week, our lovely senior member Katrina will be holding a scanlation workshop next Monday, from 7-10PM in PCB 1300! If you've ever wanted to learn how translators bring you quality scans of your manga, look no further! Be sure to bring a laptop as well since it will be a hands-on workshop. We've also invited the Comic and Manga club to show up, so it's also a great opportunity to meet like-minded people!
Look forward to more event announcements as they approach, and we hope to see you Thursday~

Hi CAE!
It’s Week 4; midterms are approaching or may already be here for some of you, so good luck! Events are beginning to approach, so here’s a rundown of what’s going on in the next couple weeks.
First, we’d like to thank everyone who came out to Wayzgoose this past Saturday and helped make it a huge success for club. We sold yakisoba and represented CAE to the Irvine community, and we hope everyone had a lot of fun being there!
This Thursday we’ll have our usual club meeting with the next episode of all six shows at 7pm in PSLH. For intermission, our PR Officer John will take over AMV Corner for a special showcase of older, "classic" AMVs from the 90s and early 2000s. It should be a great way to look back on the history of AMVs and some older series, so make sure to stay for it!
Our Friday meeting this week will be a magical girl night, starting at 7pm in ELH 110 (a room attached to the main ELH lecture hall). We’ll be featuring an episode from six different series about magical girls transforming, powering up, fighting evil and saving the world in true mahou shoujo style. It’ll be a ton of fun and a celebration of this classic anime genre, and we hope to see you there. And look forward to next week’s Friday meeting as well, where we’ll be screening the Detective Conan movie The Phantom of Baker Street in honor of Golden Week in Japan.
Also a heads-up for our Little Tokyo trip; the last one of the school year! If you haven’t had a chance to come with club to Little Tokyo for food, shopping, karaoke, and socializing, here’s your chance. It will be next Saturday, May 4th, and we’ll be meeting at the flagpoles to carpool in the morning. A Google doc will be going up soon on the Facebook page to sign up for rides, so keep an eye out if you’re interested.
That’s all there is for now, although we’re in the process of organizing even more events and even a workshop or two! Good luck with your studies and we hope to see you at a meeting or event soon.

Hey CAE folks, it's Week 3!
As always, we'll be having our regular Thursday meetings in PSLH at 7pm with the next episode for each of our six series. Get ready for another installment of Victoria's AMV Corner during our intermission!
We'll also be having our first Friday meeting of the quarter this week. It will be in ELH 110 at 7pm, and we're kicking things off with a spring sampler! If you haven't had a chance to check out the newest shows from this season yet, here's your chance to get a taste with several officers recommendations. Next week will be Magical Girls Night, where we'll present a medley of shows involving cute girls kicking monster butt and saving the world.
Finally, CAE will be at Wayzgoose is this Saturday! We will be selling yakisoba, a type of Japanese stir-fried noodle dish. Our booth will be located in the part of Aldrich Park near Rowland Hall, so be sure drop by to say hello, buy food, and/or help out.
There's more to come this quarter, such as our quarterly Little Tokyo trip and Animixer, so be on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks! We hope to see you Thursday.

Hi CAE!
It’s already Week 2; we hope you had a good first week back at school and are settling in to all your classes. There are no huge changes or announcements this week, just a couple quick but important notes and updates.
First, a word from our Masquerade director, Katrina. She says: "Always wanted to participate in Masquerade? This week is your last chance! We will have our second Spring meeting this Wednesday, 4/10, in HH105, where we'll be discussing our basic script, figuring out who'll be on stage, and splitting into our prop/costume/music groups for good! We'll also be discussing our singers and voice actors for Kuragehime! The Musical! If you can't come by, and would like to know how you can hang out, you can email Katrina at kleonoud@uci.edu . Hope to see you there!" The musical is going to be amazing, so stop by see how you can be a part of this Masq.
Our Thursday meeting this week will be in our new location once again, PSLH, at 7pm. In addition to resuming our normal lineup of shows after the April Fools fun, we will also be adding a sixth show to our lineup: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha! It’s a good old-fashioned magical girl show with lots of action thrown in the mix, so we hope you’ll enjoy it. The airing schedule of shows will return to its previous setup of three shows before intermission, and three after.
Speaking of intermission, this week during break we’ll be featuring a brand new form of entertainment that we hope to continue through the quarter; our secretary Victoria will be hosting an AMV Corner! She’ll be featuring 3-4 AMVs from various genres each week, and we hope they’ll help you discover new anime you might be interested in, as well as remembering and appreciating old favorites. Victoria would love any input, comments, or suggestions on the AMV Corner, so let her know what you think at club this week!
Information on upcoming things like Friday meetings, club trips, and other fun events will be coming soon, so keep an eye out! That’s all for this week!

4/1/2013
Hi CAE! Welcome back!
We hope you enjoyed your spring break (even if it didn’t quite feel long enough!). Now it’s time to finish off the year with spring quarter. As usual CAE will be bringing you lots of events and opportunities, and we look forward to a great quarter with everyone!
First and most importantly, WE HAVE A NEW MEETING ROOM. CAE will be meeting Thursdays at 7pm in PSLH, Physical Sciences Lecture Hall, not our previous room in the Social Sciences hall. PSLH is the big lecture hall past all the engineering buildings, and we’re excited to have it! If you’re unsure where the building is, post on Facebook or check the UCI campus map; it’s right on Ring Road and hard to miss since it stands alone. Remember to come to the new room this Thursday 4/4 for our first meeting of the quarter!
This week to kick things off we will also not be showing our usual lineup of shows; April Fool’s Day was this week and it’s a club tradition to celebrate it. Our currently screening shows will be replaced or tweaked in various ways this Thursday, so come expecting laughs and ridiculous fun, not plot! And never fear, starting Week 2 we’ll pick up right where we left off on each show so we can continue enjoying them.
We’d also like to remind you that we are still looking for art submissions to use for club related merchandise and activities. Please give or send us your submissions at cal.animage.epsilon@gmail.com, and your art might become famous in CAE!
Other than that, we hope you have a great first week of classes! Keep an eye out for lots more events throughout the quarter.
