Today is ICS Day! Play the scavenger hunt while you go about your day. The deadline is (about) 3:30. You can answer them here.
The Informatics Student Association works to unite the Informatics community at UC Irvine and to promote the new major to students and companies alike. We offer workshops, corporate visits and tours, individual tutoring and mentoring, tournaments and competitions (like Robocode) and networking/recruiting events with companies such as Apple, Deloitte Consulting, Google, Microsoft, and Hitachi Consulting. It's all free, of course, and open not to just to Informatics students but to any interested Anteater.
The newest major in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, Informatics is the study of the design, application, use and impacts of information technology. It goes beyond technical design, to focus on the use of information technology in the real world.
Research in the field of Informatics includes software engineering, computer-supported collaborative work, human-computer interaction, ubiquitous computing, security and privacy, information retrieval and management, programming languages, and computational-social relationships.
It's a great idea to join the INSA mailing list to hear about upcoming events, whether or not you're an Informatics student. Also, if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask.
