Dr. Ramanathan, assistant professor in the department of Chemistry at SASTRA University, Tamil Nadu, India, was in the Potma Lab as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar and gave us a historical and biopgraphical of Raman and his Effect, on June 2015.
Dr. Jean-luc Doumont (Principiae) shared his visions on how to enhance your presentation skills with a hands-on workshop on April 2015. This workshop had a follow-up practical session with Dr. Kim Staats on July 2015.
Mr. James Fisher VP of Newport Corporation pointed out how important it is to ask the right questions to the right people on February 2015.
Dr. Steven Jacques from the Oregon Health and Science University presented “Probing the nanoarchitecture of tissues using optical scattering” on December 2014.
Mr. Donn Silberman, Sr. Applications Engineer at PI (Physik Instrumente) L.P., talked to us about the fundamentals and recent advances in micro and naopositioning for fast photonics process automation and gave a brief update on the National Photonics Initiative (NPI) on November 2014.
Dr. Anita Mahadevan-Jansen from Vanderbilt University presented “Intraoperative guidance with intrinsic near infrared imaging” on October 2014.

Dr. Alex Small form California State Polytechnic University, Pomona exposed “Interesting connections in optics, and a question I don’t know the answer to” on May 2014.
Prof. David Reitze from the LIGO Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology presented “LIGO: Using Really Big Interferometers to Search for the Most Violent Astrophysical Events in the Universe” on April 2014.
Dr. John Fourkas from the University of Maryland presented his work on “Nanoscale fabrication and manipulation using visible light” on April 2014.
Dr. Simin Cai, from Go!Foton Corporation, presented “Exercise Your Leadership Inside Out: Put Yourself Back in the Driving Seat for Your Career Development” on November 2013.
Jérôme Ballesta, from Imagine Optic SA, presented “Improvement of 3D localization in PALM, STORM and single particle tracking by using adaptive optics” on April 2013.
Dr. Edward Olano, from Molecular Targets, Inc., presented “The road less traveled: Chemical Entrepreneurship” on March 2013.
