Hi everyone,

In our WebMail system, the year is currently showing as '0000'. The real year is still saved in the message, but it is being displayed that was. We're going to patch our e-mail system at 4:30 to correct this bug.

Thanks,
Shawn

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, we launched a new "look" for our index page. This template is the same one our Campus Organizations site uses. We plan to re-design the Clubs.UCI site to provide more functionality as well as a cleaner appearance.

For one thing, this forum is mostly going away. I'll continue using it for the News component (for now), but I am moving all tutorials, FAQs, download links, etc into our new Wiki. What is a Wiki? I'm sure you are all familiar with Wikipedia. The goal of the CIS Wiki is to document all the questions and issues you might run into as a campus organizations webmaster, and provide solutions for them (or at least workarounds).

We had students work on moving old content last year, but it remains unfinished. Consider the Wiki useful, but a "secondary source" for now. As always, call, e-mail, or drop by for the best results. I plan to "relaunch" and promote the Wiki once I have time to go through the pages (probably in Spring quarter).

We have also created a simple "I need help" support form. This system will serve as the online place you go to report problems. It will help us keep track of outstanding issues and stay organized. We will be expanding the form with tools you can use to provide feedback, determine your status in the job queue, relate multiple issues, and "help us help you."

Thanks to the work of my volunteer alum, Grant Houlgate, we now have an "instant website" option available for groups starting from scratch/who want to change their design. This web template uses Drupal, a popular content management system (CMS). With Drupal, you build pages right on the site itself (in your web browser). You can add features like a Google Calendar, mail lists, photo galleries, etc. The best part is, we manage the updates and security patches for you while your organization owns the content, data, etc. If you need a new theme or want a "module" (new feature), you can go to www.drupal.org, find it, and ask us to install it for you (just send the link).

If you have any questions about our new site, the new features specified above, issues with your existing account, or anything else, please contact us using our support form, call 949-824-6218, e-mail spirit@uci.edu, or drop by the Dean of Students Office.

Thanks,
Shawn

Hi everyone,

We just launched a new web portal at http://www.clubs.uci.edu. The index pages match our sister site (UCI Campus Organizations) better, and now include links to the forum, our new support request form, and the new Wiki. More information to come.

Thanks,
Shawn
