Welcome to the UCI Spirit forum. The purpose of this forum is to work in conjunction with other Spirit tools such as Spirit Mailman, Spirit phpMyAdmin, and Spirit WebMail to help clubs and organizations at UCI better manage their activities and communication. UCI Spirit staff will post news, resources, etc. to UCI Spirit account users, while users themselves can contribute their own tips, questions, and feedback to Spirit staff and to each other.
The forum is primarily designed for UCI students involved with UCI Spirit clubs and organizations, but anyone is welcome to participate in this community. Please note, however, that we reserve the right to remove any user and/or posts at our discretion; furthermore, this system should be used for the sole purpose of information exchange pertaining to the UCI Spirit server. No advertisements or otherwise unrelated information should be posted.
Also, please be aware that this forum system is itself a developing and experimental service. Much of the work undertaken by UCI Spirit is the result of volunteers helping out. If you are computer savvy, please consider volunteering to help with UCI Spirit server issues under our Projects board, or contact Dean of Students to volunteer in our office for pass/no pass quarterly credit working on our servers.
A few quick clarifications:
Spirit toolbar - left side of page, provides quick links and related outside links to popular resources for UCI Spirit users.
Profile tab - near top of page, provides options to customize your user profile, signature on posts, contact info, etc.
My Messages tab - near top of page, provides online inbox of messages received from other forum users. On forums, messages between users are known as PMs, or Private Messages.
Calendar tab - we will not be actively using this calendar for UCI Spirit needs. Moderators, feel free to make calendar postings, but eventually UCI Spirit hopes to make use of the "Anteater Community Calendar" which you can read more about on our Projects board.
If your club would like its own UCI Spirit board, or any other UCI Spirit account features, please come in to the Dean of Students office and fill out a UCI Spirit account application/update form to let us know your requests and preferences. After doing this, we will upgrade one of your member's forum accounts (of your choosing) to "Moderator" so that your club can have full control over your own board.
Thanks, and see you around!
