The Socieity for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth, commonly known as SPICMACAY, is a nonprofit, nonreligious, nonpolitical, and student participatory movement dedicated to growing the love for Indian Classical culture. Founded in 1977 by Dr. Kiran Seth, its primary focus is in organizing free public concerts, lecture-demonstrations, workshops, and events featuring the greatest Indian classical artists of all disciplines. It has now blossomed into a worldwide movement, with over 800 centers and 1500 events a year.
The SPICMACAY chapter of UC Irvine (SPICMACAY@UCI) was founded in March 2006 and has since hosted events by a wide array of artists:
