Meeting 1-24: Opportunity!

Good job, and good luck to this quarters Game Jam teams. All the teams did pretty damn well, and there was a great turn out at the Unveiling Event Tuesday.

At the next meeting, Monday, 1-24, Prof. David Reinkensmeyer (http://biorobotics.eng.uci.edu/people/djr), from the UCI Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, will speak  about his recent research efforts that seek to develop computer games for assisting in physical rehabilitation and also support for young children with physical/cognitive limitations in the safe operation of powered wheelchairs.  He is interested in engaging VGDC members in the development of games for such purposes, and there has been some talk of monetary compensation. This could be an interesting opportunity, so don’t miss this one ;)

UCI Game Research needs students!

For VGDC members who have shown interest in participating in UCI game research, there will be a meeting with the Virtual Worlds group:

Wednesday, October 21 (tomorrow!)
Donal Bren Hall (DBH)  5082

The group is in need of students interested in developing 3D models, animation scripts, and similar using new OpenSim technologies. OpenSim is an open source implementation that interoperates with Second Life.
