Account Information
Why CORE Accounts?
CORE Accounts exist to help clubs and organizations organize information, communicate, and project their identities to other students and/or the world.
Who is eligible for a CORE Account
Only registered campus organizations with UC Irvine's Dean of Students are eligible to sign-up for CORE Accounts, but CORE Accounts are not automatically created for all groups. The president/chair and the webmanager must APPLY / RENEW each fall quarter and review what services are setup for that account. CORE Account are NOT available for general students, departments, or non-University entities.
CORE Account Features
- E-mail address
- Website hosting 1 GB, more if needed; Apache 2
- Databases (MySQL 5)
- Mailing lists (Mailman)
Reasons to use your CORE Account
- ACCESSIBILITY - 24-hour access from any Internet-capable computer
- NO "APPROVAL" PROCESS - full control of your website content (subject to UCI Computer Use Policy and guidelines)
- NO ADVERTISEMENTS - no pop-ups/ads on pages or e-mail advertisements
- UCI DOMAIN - clubs.uci.edu sites are search able through the UCI home page and Google.
- NO ADDITIONAL COSTS - at this time, any registered club or organization is eligible for a free CORE Account;
- STAYS WITH YOUR CLUB- Files will stay with your club account throughout the years. This is espcially important when club officers and members change.
Why do we have to renew our CORE Account every year?
Your account is dependent upon your group's annual re-registration with the Office of the Dean of Students. Although we rely upon a lot of contribution from volunteers, some of the registration fees paid by clubs goes toward the cost of managing and maintaining this service. Furthermore, we have to verify that the accounts still active and being used and those people responsible for maintaining it are legitimate members of the UCI community.
