Fetch is a full-featured GUI-based Mac OS-only FTP client made by Fetch Softworks. The latest version of Fetch is 5.3. In addition to basic File Transfer Protocol functionality, Fetch includes such features as editing files without having to download them and re-upload them. In version 5.0, support for SSH file transfer protocol was added.
Obtaining Fetch
- The latest version of Fetch is available for download from the Fetch Homepage.
- Fetch requires a license to use which may be obtained at no charge for UCI students at UCI Software Licensing
To use with your CORE account
- After installing and launching Fetch the program should appear like so:
- To access the CORE FTP server use the following information:
- Once connected, you should be automatically connected to your group's home directory:
- To upload your webpages, you should be able to drag/drop your files into the Fetch window. Files related to your website should be put in the "Sites" folder:
- Your files should be immediately accessible on the web after uploading.
Notes
- Connections can be made using either FTP or SFTP. However, SFTP and encrypted connections are recommended to ensure the security of your data.
- To download, just drag/drop to your desktop. To delete, drag to the Trash or use the REMOTE menu's DELETE DIRECTORY OR FILE. Quit the application when done.
- Don't forget to upload your images separately, too!
