FileZilla

FileZilla Client (also referred to as FileZilla) is a free, open source, cross-platform FTP client. FileZilla is available for Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and Mac OS X. It supports File Transfer Protocol and SSH file transfer protocol.

Obtaining FileZilla Client
- The latest version of of the FileZilla client is available from their website. Binaries are available for most major operating systems. Source code is also available.
- FileZilla client is distributed free of charge under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
Using FileZilla with your CORE account
- After installing and launching FileZilla client the program should appear like so:
Quick Connect
- To quickly connect to the CORE FTP server enter the following information into the QuickConnect bar at the top of the client:
- Host:sftp://clubs.uci.edu (sftp indicates using SSH over FTP. To use unencrypted FTP use the address ftp://clubs.uci.edu. However, this is not recomended)
- Username:<Your CIS account name>
- Password:<Your CIS account password>
- Port:<Leave Blank>
- After logging in you should have access to your organization's files. Your local computer's files are on the left-hand directory. Your organization's remote files are located on the right-hand directory. You can move files between locations using drag and drop:
Using the site manager
- If you use multiple FTP servers you may want to use FileZilla's site manager. To open this up either hit ctrl-s or select it from the file menu.
- After opening the menu select "new site"
- Enter your organization's information
