Drupal is a free software package that allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website.

What can drupal do for UC Irvine's campus organizations?

Drupal allows campus organizations to easily create and maintain their own websites.

The built-in functionality, combined with dozens of freely available add-on modules, will enable features such as:

   * Electronic commerce
   * Blogs
   * Collaborative authoring environments
   * Forums
   * Peer-to-peer networking
   * Newsletters
   * Podcasting
   * Picture galleries
   * File uploads and downloads

Advantages of drupal

  • Multiple websites can be created from one drupal installation.
  • CORE Internet Services maintains the drupal code base so users do not have to worry about updating Drupal.
  • Websites are easily altered from the users browser.
  • No knowledge of coding is required. However, HTML can be used if the user wishes.
  • Websites passed from one webmaster to the next does not require reverse engineering.
  • Drupal is free software.
